Haven is built by you, the writer and the artist. As such, you have the direct ability to take the series in a completely new direction, and you have access to all of the characters and stories before you to draw from.

Because of the fact that Haven is a series, we STRONGLY encourage you to read some of the stories before you try and write one. That way, you have the best chance of getting accepted, and of coarse paid.

We'd like to see artists and writers connect, so we have created a forum at Brick Cave Media here where you can post that you'd like to work with an artist.

Once you've done that, and you think you're ready, here are the guidelines:

Haven Stories

• Each story should be 4,000-6,000 words in length.
• Stories may incorporate any previous character, location or other attribute from any previous story.
• Authors should try and maintain the integrity of any character(s) they adopt for their story.
• Only an original author may kill a character they have created. 
• You cannot destroy the City of Haven, state, country, continent or planet. Somebody asked. You can certainly threaten to, of coarse.

Haven Related Artwork

• Artists that would like to submit artwork for inclusion in upcoming stories are encouraged to do so.
• Artwork is reviewed independently of story submissions, unless they are submitted together.
• Artwork may be submitted electronically.
• Artwork may be in .png, .gif, .jpg formats
• Max size is 2mb.

Submission and Acceptance:

• Submissions received between September 1 of the previous year and August 31st of the current year will be reviewed during September and October of the current year.
• The writers/artists of accepted submissions will be notified by October 31st of the current year.
• Submissions are reviewed by the "Haven City Council", currently listed as J.A. Giunta, Sharon Skinner, Nick Ozment, Scott Woods and Bob Nelson.

Payment

• Authors are paid .50 for each Active Subscriber in the month of the publication of  their story. Artists are paid .50 for each Active Subscriber in the month of their publication. An active subscriber is any electronic or print subscriber that has successfully paid their monthly subscription fee withing the month of publication. Payment is made 30-60 days following the month of publication.
• Further, Artists and Writers are paid .25 for each electronic download sale that occurs for the work for a period of one year following the month of publication. Payment is made each time the artists cumulative total reaches $5.00, or the one year period elapses, at which point the artist/writer is paid whatever has accumulated.
• Payments are made by Paypal, using the email address presented at the time of the submission.

Rights

The rights for Haven are owned by a literary nonprofit named Anthology, Inc..

In order to preserve the rights of others to use characters, places and other Haven information, all stories, characters, and details that are published become the property of Anthology, inc.
